A mindfulness practice, which helps us face all of life's experiences with a calm strength, can be especially helpful during the holidays. The energy of the holidays is highly active and social. It can be especially overstimulating for introverts, and if we're with family, or if we're feeling the absence of family it can bring up old emotional patterns. That's not to say the holidays are overwhelming or triggering for everyone, but all that external energy is very Yang. So we feel December's highly Yang cultural energy, just as nature is moving into its most Yin time, winter.
