Holiday Qigong

A mindfulness practice, which helps us face all of life's experiences with a calm strength, can be especially helpful during the holidays. The energy of the holidays is highly active and social. It can be especially overstimulating for introverts, and if we're with family, or if we're feeling the absence of family it can bring up old emotional patterns. That's not to say the holidays are overwhelming or triggering for everyone, but all that external energy is very Yang. So we feel December's highly Yang cultural energy, just as nature is moving into its most Yin time, winter.   Given this mismatch of energies our December classes will have an extra focus on building internal Yin energy to help maintain equilibrium during the holidays and align with winter.

The 8 Brocades set is practiced by millions of people all over the world. It’s an easy and efficient routine to use daily to help the physical body stay strong, flexible and resilient -- Good for all levels! I will balance this more active 8 Brocades set with a very gentle series of warm up exercises called “coiling silk”. Coiling silk or silk reeling means to slowly turn parts of the body on an axis to dissolve knotted energy, restoring flow and balance.
